Residency Training Programs

In addition to group classes and private lessons we offer residency programs/board & train programs.  What’s the difference you may ask?  In group classes and private lessons, we teach you how to train your dog.  It’s up to you to put in the time, repetitions to teach your dog.  In residency programs, we train your dog and then train you.  This option works great for people who do not have time to train themselves due to a busy schedule or just want quick results.  Or hey, the next time you go on vacation, instead of just boarding your dog, send him through a residency program and come home to an educated canine.  We send our human children to school and college, why not send your K9 kid too.
The following training programs are designed to teach dogs and owners at different levels.  In order for all of our training programs to be successful, it is imperative for owner(s) to work at home to change patterns and behaviors as instructed by your trainer.  Your willingness to incorporate the obedience commands into everyday life, as instructed by your trainer, is crucial for success.  The time and energy that you invest will determine how much you and your dog are able to accomplish.  The following is a breakdown of what each residency training program offers you and your dog.  All of our programs can be customized or modified to accommodate you and your dog’s specific needs and wants.   Call 269-465-OBEY (6239) for more information.

• Training dogs are required to have the following vaccinations:  DHLP, Parvo, and Rabies.  We also recommend the Corona and Bordatella vaccinations.  The Bordatella vaccination must be given at least 10 days prior to training.  It is the owner’s responsibility to provide current vaccination records.  Dogs that are without vaccination records or overdue on vaccinations will not be accepted for training. 
• Before booking a residency program you and your dog should come in for a mini consult, cost for this appointment is $25.  This fee is waived if a deposit is given for one of our programs.

THE GOOD DOG PROGRAM

The Good Dog Program is a 5 day boarding program with 2 private lessons.  This on leash program is designed to establish dog/owner communication and give you leash control.  Upon completion of this program your dog will be able to walk on a leash without pulling or lunging at people or dogs and to sit patiently.  Quick results to get you started on the path to a happy relationship.  This program is best for happy dogs with no major aggression, major anxiety or major housebreaking problems.  Your first private lesson will be on the day you pick up your dog.  The second follow-up lesson can be scheduled at your convenience but must be used within 30 days.  Included in this package is a 5 foot leather handcrafted leash and working collar.  Cost is $595.

THE GREAT DOG PROGRAM

The Great Dog Program is a 10 day boarding program with unlimited private lessons, email and phone support.  For puppies or adults that need work on their manners.  Our goal is for you to have a well-behaved K-9 family member.  This program is a great head start for the busy family who wants a well-behaved dog, but who doesn’t have time to teach good behaviors.  It is also ideal for someone who is going out of town and would like to come home to a better behaved dog.  Best for dogs with no major aggression or anxiety.  Your dog is taught basic manners and self-control.  Dog learns excellent leash manners even with high distractions.  Dog learns how to “listen” to you and come when called.  This program also helps with jumping, barking, digging, door bolting and more.   Included in this package is a 5 foot leather handcrafted leash and working collar.  Leash based program unless upgraded to our off leash option (remote collar based).  Cost is $1100.

THE EXCELLENT DOG PROGRAM 

The Excellent Dog Program is a 15 day boarding program with unlimited private lessons, email and phone support.  For the families that want a dream dog.  Dog learns excellent leash skills, with high distractions.  This program is best for happy-excitable or stubborn dogs, dogs with mild aggression, anxiety or major housebreaking problems.  Your dog will be taught basic manners and self-control, excellent leash manners even with high distractions.  Come when called with high distractions, dog will learn to “listen” to you.  This program can also solve jumping, barking, digging, counter surfing, door bolting, aggression, create or restore housebreaking, chewing, begging and chasing.  Also helps most separation anxiety. Included in this package is a 5 foot leather handcrafted leash and working collar.  This program can also be upgraded to our off leash option (remote collar based).  Cost is $1400.

THE ROCK-STAR INTERVENTION PROGRAM

The Rock-Star Intervention Program is a 21 day boarding program with unlimited private lessons, email and phone support.  This program is best for dogs requiring more serious behavior modification.  A great choice for families on extended vacation too.  This program assists dog owners who are having major difficulties with their pet.  In this program your dog learns excellent leash manners even with high distractions sit and stay with high distractions, come when called.  Problems such as jumping, barking, aggression, door bolting, fear based behaviors and anxiety disappear with this program.  This program can help or rid many unwanted behaviors.  Included in this package is a 5 foot leather handcrafted leash and working collar.  The off leash option is included with this program.   Cost is $2000.

 

BEHAVIOR MODIFICATION

Behavior modification can be included in any of our residency programs.  Extra days may be required depending on the behavior work necessary to reach your goals.  An additional charge may apply, please discuss this option with your trainer.   Excessive barking, play biting, reactiveness to other dogs and/or objects, jumping up, rushing out doors, etc these are just some of the problems we can help you and your dog with.

OFF-LEASH TRAINING UPGRADE

During this upgrade our professional trainer will add to your dog’s on-leash foundation.  You and your dog may qualify for this upgrade upon successful completion of the on-leash training mentioned in the Excellent Dog program.  You and your dog must be evaluated by and receive approval from our trainer in order to enroll in this program.

Your dog will stay in residence at Stay and Obey LLC for ten full training days and will be taught to perform all the commands mentioned in the Excellent Dog Program off of the leash.  Your dog will be able to respond to commands indoors and outdoors, verbally and with hand signals.  Your dog will also be taught the PLACE mat command that allows your dog limited freedom while maintaining self-control in a designated area.  A training tab, long line, and mat for the off-leash place mat command are included with this program.

This program includes a series of private follow-up lessons following the last day of residency.  It is through these lessons you will progress toward off-leash control.  You will be taught verbal skill training, proper use of commands, and receive instruction on handling your dog off leash in real world situations.  In your follow-up lessons you and your dog will participate in exercises that have a heavy emphasis on diversifying commands around distractions and in different environments.  The cost of this program is: $650.00
